I was told that I should not have my Windows firewall on while the Norton 2009 antivirus is on at the same time. Does anyone know if this is true? Does Norton antivirus have a firewall too? And is so will it really slow don some of my online programs?
Only answer if you know! No dumb answers please. Thank you for your help.

I do not want it to remain on. I have a firewall provided by my anti-virus software. I want to keep the anti virus (Quick Heal)firewall on. But I can’t switch off the XP firewall. How do I turn it off?

Don’t they both serve the same purpose? So no one can look at your computer?

I use PCtools firewall plus- free edition
I use Avast Virsus protection - free edition

I do not understand how to change the settings of the firewall to allow Avast. I am a self-taught novice computer user.
This problem only started when I was notified that Avast had a
newer version and to update. The firewall blocked the update and is still keeping it blocked. Avast keeps sending me the message that an error has ocurred and to check my firewall.
The firewall log shows that it was blocked. I cannot seem to connect to any support from the firewall support group. Please help!
