We are students in a computer lab at our community college trying to disable the firewall in windows vista so that we can play games over the lan. The administrators won’t grant us permissions in windows vista to disable the firewall. This doesn’t pose a security risk because the network already has a firewall built in, we just want to disable the 2nd useless firewall on vista.

You don’t. If you haven’t been granted administrative permissions on that PC you aren’t allowed to do that.
