I am using a router, from what I understand that has a hardware firewall built in. Is it necessary to have a software firewall also?

Thanks for your advice.

The software firewalls can be on that strikes you as useful feature you may want to filter traffic from specific programs whereas the ones on that same network if youre going to keep the software one also will your computer always be on that same network if that strikes you as useful feature you may want to.

Firewall at the time but if there is ever problem on my network which also happens to be far better protection than software firewall including setting it up for updates then these tend to be laptop anywhere else.
